Carl Frampton might enjoy the fact that he is listed as the number one contender to Guillermo Rigondeaux in the current ratings published by The Ring magazine. But he doesn’t have what three of the contenders listed below him currently possess – a world championship belt.

The Belfast super bantam is a class act, unbeaten, and seemingly getting better and stronger with every fight. But winning battles in the ring is often of secondary importance in this business. It’s how your support staff handle the politics of the sport that often determines when – or whether – you have a belt strapped around your waist.

"Frampton is not thought to be high on LSC's agenda
What is that based on? The only fighter I've heard him mention in the past month is Frampton.

Things are really interesting at SBW, it'll be disappointing if they don't all match up in their next fights.

Ffs hearn couldve bought the bloody belt off of Santa Cruz by now, it'll be a travesty if framptons just fighting mid level contenders throughtout the prime of his career.

Ha! Knew this article stunk of Hearn. Very anti- Frampton, anti-McGuigan. Frampton will get his chance soon, hopefully beat Santa Cruz then batter Quigg, shut Hearn up for good.

I don't understand why Frampton's people are so terrified of Rigo.

If he fights him and loses, then at least he will have learned something from the experience that will make him a better boxer going forward. Fans will be forgiving as long as he puts up a good effort.

If he fights him and wins, he becomes a bigger star than he already is and the sky is the limit.

I think they'd be willing to take the fight, it's just they'd rather wrap up a world title first, establish Carl in the states, build up a good head of steam. Frampton himself seems to have no qualms about taking the fight. I think it'd be a good matchup, but it's hard to see it ending in anything other than a Rigo victory. Hopefully it happens eventually =]
