Comments Thread For: Wladimir Klitschko Gives Praise To Leapai For Efforts

Wladimir Klitschko has rained punches on Alex Leapai then showered his vanquished opponent with praise after shattering his world title dream.

World heavyweight champion Klitschko stretched his 10-year winning streak to 20 fights by clinically dismantling but outclassed Australian Leapai, knocking him out in the fifth round of his quadruple title defence in Oberhausen, Germany.

The towering Ukrainian landed 147 punches to Leapai's mere 10, knocking down his much shorter challenger once in the first round and twice in the fifth.

This is exactly what makes Wladimir a fantastic champion. You might not like his style, but he's always 100% professional, always respecting his opponent and showing how a true champion should behave.

This is how he has been able to maintain fighting at such a high level and for so long. Him and his brother are true pros and gentlemen. Once they are both gone, they will finally be missed and appreciated. In 4-5 more years, Wlad may have the most title fight wins and streak of all time. Weak era or not, that's a serious accomplishment and should hold up against anyone in history.

Wlad looked nearly unbeatable and barely held at all in this fight.

            It was masterclass once again.

Seriously. Leapai stood still and took punches. Is that really something worth praising? Wlad's a classy guy, and I'm not going to say he should insult Leapai, but come on.

At least he didn't dart forward and grab Wladimir like Povetkin did and make an ugly fight.

That was a pathetic best if I have ever seen one. He landed 10 punches and barely attempted to throw more than that.
