Pretty much, the voice is one of the clear PED signs we so often see in some boxers, along with pimples, greassy sign, violent behavior and looking huge overnight.

I think when he's feeling comfortable and not threatened his voice gets deeper. It's when he feels threatened - which is most of the time - that his voice climbs to cartoonishly high levels.
