there really wasn't much "outboxing" being done, crush. that's not what he set out to do. matthysse did his best work when he backed molina up.

what matthysse does well is move his head while fighting. it's really not boxing.

Yeah, Lucas can't add height or more muscle. He really belongs at 140 just like Pac/JMM.

I am fascinated by the differences between el Chino and Lucas.

Maidana is "thick" borderline chubby for boxing standards. But he is more durable. I've never seen Maidana marked up.

It's strange. As good as Lucas is, I think that el Chino is mentally stronger, cagier, nastier. I might be way off base here, but look how emotional Lucas gets at the end of fights. For all the "Machine," he's more vulnerable, shy, quiet; always thanks his closer friends. He even wears those fake teeth.

in comparison Chino is quiet because zero **** are given. This is to say that Lucas may be more talented, but Chino is bigger, nastier, and more confident.

        love them both though

When I say outboxing, I mean winning rounds. Other then the 2 KD blows, you can't clearly give Molina any rounds

He looked tiny next to Molina and Danny was naturally bigger.

He should just rule 140. He seems to make weight fine. Some guys aren't meant to go up or just hit the max. No shame in that: you can't change your body.

He might not be indestructible, but he is one of the funnest guys to have. Let's just enjoy that instead of being imbecile fan boys
john molina is a pretty big guy, he looked bigger than thurman. he looks like a welterweight.

This makes him incredibly exciting to watch, but also a really target and causes his ring iq to lapse.

I like the guy more than ever, as an entertainer, but his flaws were very evident last night. It's embarrassing when people lie to themselves about what they saw, just to bolster their fanaticism over a fighter.
I think Lucas is not as confident and becomes emotionally vulnerable. When he gets hurt or down, he looks like the world got taken from him.

Danny Garcia, for easy comparison, is kind of the opposite, very basic boxer not particularly great at anything, but his dad instilled him to believe that he is special.Of course, Herrera beat him, but he won't take it personal like Lucas did.
              It's in the head.

the two knockdowns for certain. early in the fight there were some close rounds. i haven't scored it yet, and probably won't considering the outcome.

i was responding to the part of your post that said matthysse "outboxed" molina, which you addressed in another post.

the real asskicking didn't really start until the 8th round, if memory serves right. i'd agree that you probably can't give molina any rounds "clearly."

what i'm dis*****g in the thread is that idea that matthysse was "dominant" throughout the fight. that's just not what happened.

Molina did not win 1 round clearly and was clearly outlanded in every round, that's called outboxing. But his power is very good and he got 2 KD calls, which were the only reason he won those roinds, his power.

you appear to be grouping in any means of winning under the umbrella of "outboxing." i don't.

                    • I would use the word "outworking" or something. Molina's only clearly won rounds were the KD rounds, and he was losing the 5th before scoring that questionable KD.

Lucas was basically outfighting him for the majority of the fight. Molina had some scattered moments but 75% of each round was Matthysse until he really took over later in the fight, and then it was like full-on pulverization. I got uncomfortable watching Molina take that kind of punishment. Was a great fight though.
