Tell Briggs and Mercer that. Granted they were not at their prime but a boxer has never done well in UFC/K1 which is as close to a street fight "any style" as you will get

A former sparring mate of David Tua's did just fine a few years ago and in fact won the K1 World Grand Prix tournament...Mark Hunt did just fine with his determined style of letting his hands go when given the opportunity, all the while relying very, very little on kicking offense & defense.

Briggs didn't lose in K1, but a quick win over Tom Erikson didn't really mean much. And Mercer was only there to sell his name to the organization, which he got paid very well to do...He outright quit in the opening seconds of that fight, did he not?

On the subject of boxers fighting in MMA, I bet O'Neil Bell would make for a good transition, or the best possible transition with this current crop of fighters, from boxing to pride. Bell was a wrestling champ in high school.

Dempsey, Jeffries, Marciano, Oliver McCall, Chuvalo, Cobb, Foreman, Shavers and many others would be even odds against him IMO. Plenty of MMA guys would take him as well I think. There were plenty of men throughout history who would have a good chance of beating or killing Tyson in a streetfight.

Jeffries would probably be the one guy out of that group that I'd put against a modern MMA'er (or Tyson, for that matter)...strength, toughness, stamina, power, quickness, athleticsm, and the fact that he rolled around & trained with some of the greatest Catch-As-Catch-Can wrestlers of that era (Farmer Burns, Frank Gotch, etc.), who all had big respect for Jeff's grappling abilities.

i don't think he can beat the top level mma guys like cro cop, fedor, arlovski but who knows tank abbott has had great success in the ufc through just streetfighting/pitfighting tactics
