Comments Thread For: Team Leapai Confident Ref Will Prevent Wlad Clinching

Experienced boxing referee Eddie Cotton has warned he won't stand for any nonsense in the world heavyweight title fight between quadruple champion Wladimir Klitschko and Australian challenger Alex Leapai in Germany, Saturday.

However, he stopped short of making specific reference to, or making any guarantees, about preventing Klitschko's tendency to hold onto his opponent, the major pre-fight concern of the Leapai camp.

Yeah, right. And Floyd and Pac signed to fight each other last night while celebrating Bob Arum's birthday at Al Haymon's house.

Lol at the replies but this is good..very very good. Going to force both men to fight, if they stop the clinching and start warning to take away points Lepai may be able to find the sweet spot in Klitsch armor. This must be like the jackpot for afighter who has to fight on the inside to win.

jay nady or steve smoger would have been ideal especially nady as he doesn't allow holding & he is a big man too. remember ruiz\roy jones? I don't think it will matter anyway as I can't see leapai lasting long unless wlad carries him a few rounds...

Honestly I wouldn't be mad to see a HW division shake up. They had their run, would love to see more athletes looking at the division, may actually spark larger hw turnouts at gyms across the states...Which we could totally use.

Wlad Clinchko will get knocked out if this happens.

no,,,hed get the knockout even sooner with that short left hook if he was forced to fight on the inside. he only makes it harder for himself when he ties his opponent up on the inside and prolongs the fight. banks shouldnt be teaching him this

you are right about his short left hook on the inside no one could stand up to it perfect for lepai to run into. the only thing that keeps klits opponents out of the hospital/morgue is the fact that he holds instead of finishing them off. if the ref makes klit fight more he destroys lepai
