From *********:
Word is Carlos Baldomir will likely defend his WBC welterweight title on the proposed Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga undercard on Saturday, May 6th. One possible opponent could be welterweight Antonio Diaz. Baldomir upset Zab Judah last month for the WBC title in New York City. Diaz has won his last three fights.
Good for Carlos, sounds like he's taking the 2-fight deal with Golden Boy. Gatti and Hatton must be fuming now that it looks like they won't get their shots to take his title. Both of these fights would have been instant millions for Carlos, but especially against Hatton there was a good chance he'd lose.
Gatti and Hatton were both looking to grab cheap glory by beating up on a lightly-regarded opponent. But it looks like Baldomir is genuinely interested in building a career for himself.
