I will say it again: Kovalev is not your average irrelevant paper titlist. (Cloud and Shumenov were.) Three belts or not, lineal or not, Hopkins can't be undisputed champ unless he beats Kovalev.

If Hopkins is somehow able to beat Stevenson for his belt, and I'd be surprised if he is, he will not be the undisputed LHW champion unless he also defeats Kovalev for his belt. Since he's already suggested he won't fight Kovalev, "Nobody cares about the WBO belt", I guess he'll have to settle for lineal champion status...IF he beats Stevenson.

Totally agree. However, I don't see Hopkins beating Stevenson in any case so probably irrelevant. It'll be interesting to see how Hopkins deals with a capable and energetic fighter. Then we'll see his 49 years.
