Comments Thread For: Hopkins Remains in Pursuit of Mayweather Showdown

Even with Floyd Mayweather not paying the suggestion any mind, Bernard Hopkins continues to pursue a showdown with the sport’s pound-for-pound and box-office king.

The 49-year old is fresh off of a light heavyweight title unification win over Beibut Shumenov last weekend in Washington D.C. After the fight, he suggested a catchweight fight with Mayweather once the unbeaten welterweight king reaches 49-0 – at which point Mayweather will have also completed his six-fight deal with Showtime.

It doesn't hurt to harass Floyd. He might crack and do another poll.

B-Hop is a living legend and deserves nothing but the truth from his fans. With that being said, this fight would go down as one - if not the most boring fight in the history of boxing. An uneventful, slow paced, clinchfest with a lot of stalling and it will most likely go the distance.

Yeah, because Mayweather-Canelo was such a thriller. Mayweather-Maidana? That promises to be a real barn burner. And who isn't holding their breath for Mayweather-Khan?

It's kind of amusing. There are fans here who believe Mayweather should give Canelo, a poorly conditioned fighter who comes into the ring as a light heavyweight, a rematch. And you even had fans accusing Floyd of ducking GGG when he said he'd come down to 154.

Here we have a living legend who, at the age of almost 50, says he is capable of dropping 15 pounds (which would be an amazing feat in and of itself) to fight the pound for pound best at 160 and it's going to be the most boring fight in the history of boxing? If the most skilled fighter in the game taking on the most savvy fighter in the game doesn't intrigue you, I'd love to know what you thought when Pacquiao-Rios, Pacquiao-Bradley II and Canelo-Angulo were announced.

It makes no sense atl all . Fair play to Hopkins to see just how far this silly money thing can go and seeing that Floyd would have fought Khan had there not have been a public outcry you can clearly see the mind set. Hopkins needs to fight the likes of Stevenson but nobody could fault him if he chooses to give Kovalov a wide birth but leave 'little' Floyd alone!
