Video: Roy Jones pissed off at Larry Merchant (2004)

As Trinidad stopped Mayorga, Merchant said,

"Stopped the fight a few seconds before the nineth round."

    Jones laughed.

"Ha ha, Larry. I don't like you keep talking about the nineth round."

Merchant didn't say anything for a while after that.

On September 25, 2004 Roy Jones was knocked out cold by Glen "Coffee" Johnson in the nineth round.

One week later, Jones commentated the Felix Trinidad vs. Ricardo Mayorga fight (October 2, 2004).

Roy Jones felt Larry Merchant was taking a shot at him by saying "the nineth round."

Kind of. In a smart-ass-kind-of way.

I guess everyone was glad that Roy Jones got humbled. Happy he took an L.
