    Native American Boxers

Can anyone name any good Indian boxers? I am 50% native and for the life of me I can`t think of any. The only guy I can think of is the guy(Wayne Martel?) who fought Judah a couple years ago at MSG and got knocked down like 5 times in the 1st round. Someone told me Joe Louis was part native, and to be honest he kind of looks like he could be. But I`ve read things about Joe louis`life and never heard that mentioned.

I recall having read of a fighter who billed himself as "Bionic Man" because he had a heart pacer planted in him. He was an American native. Sorry, his name escapes me at the moment. I don't think he was allowed to continue fighting by most of the state commissions. Dunno if he was any good.

Joe Hipp, Blackfeet, was a pretty good heavy. Dempsey was something like 1/4 Cherokee. Lots of Mexican fighters are really Native American. There's a Tarahumara (Ponce de Leon?) who's doing pretty well. Barrera called Morales an "Indio" before one of their fights. "Indio" is an insulting term in Mexico. There's been some tough Mayans from southern Mexico, including one high-ranked guy who might still be fighting. There's a movie out called, "Black Cloud", available on DVD about an Indian boxer. Worth looking at. Kind of an Indian "Rocky".

What rock have you been under? Have you heard the names Julio Cesar Chavez, Salvador Sanchez, Pipino Cuevas, Lupe Pintor, Ruben Olivares, Jose Luis Castillo,etc...

Reasons for those Spanish last names is because of the Spaniards occupation of Mexico and all of Latin America, but all these fighters are of Indian descent.
