Donaire was a legit champion especially from flyweight to super bantamweight. He just ran into a stylistic nightmare in Rigondeux who is also a master boxer.

Not sure if he can have the same success at Featherweight but I think Donaire was legit from flyweight to super bantamweight.

He's also 32-33 so not sure if aging/declining skills is a factor with him.

But that is not much quality when you consider how large a population Philippines has. The things Nooblet mentioned make a lot of sense, the kids who are good at combat sports chase the cash across disciplines and provinces and face corruption all along the way. It is unfortunate circumstances because with solid amateur infrastructure Philippines would be a force to be reckoned with.

Get ready for the "Pacquiao effect" in 5-15 years you'll see a bunch of young pinoys competing from flyweight to lightweight divisions. And many of 'em will try and emulate Manny's offensive style.

              LOL

It would still be kind of exciting though. Maybe one of them becomes great.
