Comments Thread For: Donaire is Pushing Himself To The Limit For Vetyeka

Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire continues his relentless training in pursuit of a fifth world title when he battles WBA featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka of South Africa at the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Macau on May 31.

After two sparring sessions at the ALA Gym in Cebu against undefeated Cuban Remi Donaire returned to Manila with his father/trainer Nonito "Dodong" Donaire Sr for a well-attended press conference hosted by Top Rank Promotions, the Venetian and ABS-CBN at the EDSA Shangrila after which he showed up at the Elorde Gym along Sucat, Paranaque for an afternoon workout.

I like Donaire, he's a good fighter, but he fed on very weak opposition in 2012 which gave him a false sense of invincibility. Rigondeaux brought him back down to earth. We'll see if he he'll ever get to the top again.

Nonito has peaked & leveled off, it's all downhill from here on vs the elites of the division.

Anyone else agree Donaire is in the twilight of his career? I'm not sure if he truly wants a rematch with Rigondeaux, I think he might of said so to save face at the time.

If Lomachenko wins are they going to rush Loma into another big fight with Donaire to become unified at Featherweight? (Granted Donaire beats Vetyeka)

I think it has more to do with all the threats/excuses he made leading up to the Rigo fight made him go from a likable guy to an unlikable one. Then he follows it up with that poor showing against Vic who he had already KTFO. I really think how weasely and self-entitled his quotes were leading up to making the Rigo fight lost him a lot of fans.
