Porter has a lot of potential to be a great fighter. He has a good jab and solid left hook. The only thing he needs to work on is loading up and winging big punches. A fighter with some decent power could make him pay dearly for missing. But he seems to have good stamina also. Doubt Golden Boy makes a Floyd fight this year or in the near. They might want to make Porter his own solid entity first. Brook is a good fight for him at the moment.
WTF he's gotta face him by september..if only they forced other champions to defend their titles this hard..jeez. That's absolutely crazy...he's getting like a 3 week break before he's gotta get back to camp. I don't agree with this date..at least say by mid august/early september. I know he didn't take punishment facing paulie but damn the body needs it's rest.
It should be no problem for a fighter to fight 4 times a year. Most of todays fighters are not fighting often enough. The great fighters of the past fought MUCH more often. But 4 times a year is perfect IMO. Fighters in the build up who fight easy opponents can fight even more often of course.
I like Kell Brook, yet I'm struggling to make a case for him winning. Porter cuts the ring off brilliantly and although the Ingle style is all about movement etc - Kell's stamina issues will eventually show up and he will be in danger of getting caught by Porter's accurate, powerful hooks.
As mentioned by lots of people in this thread, he resume is pi$$ poor, Eddie Hearn has done him no favors and now he will be given a major test for the first time in his career.
I'd like to see Brook win, but Porter is far more exciting to watch and I'm not sure how far Brook can really go.
