World Boxing Council Interim middleweight champion Marco Antionio "Veneno" Rubio (59-6-1, 51KOs) fully intends to stay very busy while he waits to challenge the victor of the megafight between WBC Champion Sergio Martinez and challenger Miguel Cotto, taking place on June 7th at New York's Madison Square Garden.

His promoter Oswaldo Kuchle confirmed that Marco wants to fight the Martinez-Cotto winner as soon as possible because age and injuries are factors gazing across towards the other side of the ring.

It's for the interim belt so who the hell cares.
This stuff happens all the time. Look at what's happening for the regular championship belt. Miguel Cotto who's 1-2 in his last 3 fights, has never fought at MW, is suddenly getting a shot at the lineal MW champ.
No one complains because it's a good fight. Who cares about belts, we know who the champs are.

I applaud Veneno Rubio for what he's doing. Stay busy and make your money, rather than waiting around complaining that you're not getting the fights you want, like so many other fighters we know.

Say what you want about Rubio losing to Chavez Jr., Rubio can fight, and Quillin needs a good opponent, not the Euro they had him fighting last week.
