1. Nonito Donaire's Floyd impression. Answer - Watch Guerrero vs Floyd. See Andre Berto tried the Shoulder roll vs. Guerrero. He got beat up. Floyd has adjusted against Southpaws and utilize different tactics.
2. Floyd has never fought anyone that can counter his jab. Floyd is a master of distance, is the bigger and longer man. Manny would have to lunged in to counter, not a good strategy. Notice how easy it was for Morales to tame Manny with the jab in the first fight. Yuri Foreman was turned down as an opponent because of his length.
3. Floyd's jab to the body would leave him to a counter right. That is possible and it would have to be early in the fight. My sense is that Floyd doesn't use the jab to the body vs Manny early in the fight. But after Manny freezes up against Floyd like most opponents do, it would be all day jabs to the body.
4. Marquez issue with Floyd wasn't the power it was length and speed. He froze Marquez up. Floyd has very good power but he doesn't sell out his power to sacrifice his defense. Manny has admitted to being hurt against Rios and Bradley and was knocked out by Marquez. His punch resistance is decreasing and he is not hurting guys like before.
5. Floyd doesn't have KO power in his right hand. Do some research. How many people have you seen knock someone out with a straight right to the body? Floyd did that to Sharmba. And Manny is a sucker for a right hand counter.
6. Floyd doesn't need aggressive counter punching pull counter and check hook are more than enough. Marquez is not the only one who has beaten Pac. I actually think Manny beat him the first two times and Manny got him the last two. The Morales fight is more telling than the fights against Marquex. Bigger man with boxing ability.

First of all, Floyd rarely use the Philly shell stance to roll with punches against southpaws as he does against orthodox boxers. He uses the Philly shell stance to force southpaws to jab their way in to set up the straight left hand, and gives Floyd the leverage to anticipate what they will do and counter over their jab with his own jab or a long angle left hook to reset their rhythm, so the Philly shell(side-shoulder) stance isn't totally useless against southpaws. It just that Floyd can't roll his shoulder against them like the gif in my sig.
Here's an example: JMM is in a side shoulder stance and was able to anticipate Manny jabbing on the way in, and he got off first with a counter reaching jab over Manny's jab, then a left hook and right hook counter combo. Of course Floyd wouldn't throw that many counter punches, but he'd catch Manny with a left hook counter or a counter jab over Manny's jab with Manny lunging in.
The few time that Floyd got caught cleanly by the straight left hand were because he used the high guard defense in a squared up stance and stood up flat-footed without pawing the jab or feinting, and he was a sitting duck for the straight left hand between the gloves. If you notice, whenever he feints and paws the jab, he's able to either force his opponent to fight backing up or pausing them for a split second before he can set up the right hand punch upstairs or downstairs. It's no secret that Manny is ineffective when he's fighting on the back foot, and if you watch Morales-Pacquiao I, you'll noticed how effective Erik's pawing jab was when he forced Manny to fought on the back foot and was able to neutralized his rhythm by forcing him to reset.

Here's another gif where Morales was able to froze up Manny for a few seconds with the set up pawing jab and then caught him with two lead straight right hand.Last edited by Carpe Diem; 04-22-2014, 04:35 PM.

Good video.
I think a prime Pac would've beaten Floyd. If they fought now, Floyd would win.
Those saying Pac would struggle against Floyd because he struggled against Marquez don't understand boxing. Floyd and Marquez are completely different types of fighters, even their counter-punching style is different. Marquez is an aggressive counter-puncher and he traded with Pac, he countered in combinations like the guy said in the video. Floyd wouldn't fight that way against Pac.
Also Floyd hasn't fought a natural southpaw since Judah, Guerrero and Ortiz are both right-handed fighters. Plus they're bums anyway.

He allowed Castillo to constantly get off without making him pay - one of his few opponents who actually tried to punch their way in. It took him over 30 minutes to find the mark against an embarrisngly repetitive Ricky Hatton. Floyd's reputation as a transitional counterpuncher has always been greatly embellished by his admirers. If he doesn't feel completely comfortable he almost always elects to control distance. Pacquiao would give him nightmares. He'll never allow that truth to be revealed however.
I still believe Floyd would win. I just see both sides to the conversation. I should make a video on both sides. Maybe if I have the time this week I will.

Here's a good video that demonstrates what I'm talking about. Mosley had the right idea, but he just couldn't execute what he needed to do in order to beat Manny. You have to be able to follow up a with power punch when you throw the jab or Manny will lunge in and unleash a barrage of flurries without any hesitation.
Mosley kept him at bay with a few set-up jabs and scoring jabs, but he didn't followed up consistently with power punches upstairs and downstairs. Difference between Floyd and other fighters is that once he find something that works against his opponents, he'll consistently do it and will mix up his attack to keep them from predicting his offense.

LMAO at all the Floyd fans who think it would be an easy fight. When has anyone ever had an easy time with Manny? Win or lose he always gets his licks in. Floyd will not beat Manny pot shooting him 8-10 times a round. He would have to fight at some point and open himself up to the chance of getting knocked out or down. There's a reason Floyd will fight everyone not named Manny Pacquiao.
