No it's pretty much a great win as Hopkins was at the time and has been since an ATG.

I mean, you never hear Roy Jones's fans talking about Jones's legacy getting boosted because of what B-Hop is doing now, or when James Toney won FOTY in 2003 and in the eyes of everyone but some drunk judges, beat a HW contender in Sam Peter in 2006. Or Lewis's fans taking credit for Vitali's wins, or Sanders's fans talking about his legacy because of what Wald has done.

Pacquiao's fans didn't swell with pride when Erik Morales took 4 to 5 rounds against Maidana and later won another title. Floyd's fans didn't get happy when El Famoso and El Matador went on to win world titles, and his fans are among the worst in the sport.

Could it be that the fans of Corrie Sanders, who had one notable victory in his career, are less desperate to boost his resume than the fans of Joe Calzaghe, an undefeated first ballot HOFer, are?
Ward fans are a lot worse with Froch.

It means that Calzaghe was so damn good that even his haters need to finally give it up to him because, if for nothing else, BHOP is continuing to prove he is probably one of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

ok lets bash cherry picking but condone piggybacking!!....Calzaghe doesn't look better when BHop wins....why give him credit for BHop's or Kessler's wins since he turned down a rematch with BOTH.....isn't that ducking?!?....he got outta Vegas with a SD and ran off to fight a shot Roy and then retired because being UNDEFEATED meant so much to him

Mayweather don't get credit for Marquez wacking Pac nor should he deserve any imo....just goes to show you that the Calzaghe and Hopkins fans have different standards.....after BHop fights them we expect them to suffer for the rest of their careers and never be the same....we like BHop to ruin fighters.....we don't look for piggyback rides, we look to snatch souls....BHop usually send them off with damaged egos...therefore they usually become damaged goods.....no piggybacking on our side!!

Still the punchstats was widely in favor of the slapper:

              Total Punches Jabs Power Punches
              Hopkins 127 / 468 11 / 93 116 / 375
              27% 12% 31%
              Calzaghe 232 / 707 45 / 224 187 / 483
              33% 20% 39%

why couldn't he hit hopkins? because hopkins' defense was so good? advantage hopkins right? i mean defense is a scoring criteria while throwing punches and missing punches is not.
              Aggression is a scoring criteria.
why wasn't calzaghe able to pin hopkins on the ropes even once during the fight? every time he tried hopkins countered him or avoided his punches easily and moved away. the few clean punches he did land were when they were in the center of the ring. otherwise he was just walking into punches and desperately flailing.
Pinning somebody on the ropes is not a scoring criteria in itself.

also calzaghe should have been dq'd since You cannot hit with an open glove, the inside of the glove, the wrist, the backhand, or the side of the hand and that's all he did during the fight from start to finish. so calzaghe broke the rules probably 500-600 times and still couldn't beat hopkins. imagine if he had to actually follow the rules and throw real punches? he would be a walking punch bag like shumenov and he knows it. throwing slappy punches with the side of the glove is the only thing that made him awkward because fighters don't train for punches coming from those angles since it's illegal.
Yeah. He slapped a lot. He did that for all of his later fights. Somehow the judges felt they where telling punches though.

I'm pretty sure there was a poll on sky sports(UK TV) a few day's after the fight, and the majority had B Hop winning the fight. So this bull**** story of nobody scoring the fight for B Hop is pure drivel. People from the UK had him loosing as well lol.

To this day I don't see how JC won more than 7 rounds, or Hop losing more than 7.

He ran off to fight a shot Roy because he made 10 million out of it and no one wanted to see a Hopkins rematch after the abortion that was the first fight.
