Does it bother you that promotional companies....

Does it bother you that promotional companies try to milk every ounce of star-power and money out of boxers instead of pitting them all against each other thus weeding out the hype jobs, and non-super stars?

Sure as hell bothers me when a ton of these "stars" are transparent, they're actually preventing a lot of these guys from being great.

The jig is up with the frauds that claim they wanna fight other champions e.g. Quillin. Eventually, fans start to protest e.g. quillin getting boo'ed. But hopkins didnt get boo'ed.

Fans are starting to realise they are being fooled.

promoters invest time and money on hot prospects. they'd like to cash in when the time is right. it's business. but sometimes, that timing can backfire, too early or overdue.

It bothers me that networks become aware a fight is on fans radar then, instead of making the fight, decide that the fighters should share a card together, then headline seperate cards (or vice versa) then put the fight on ppv.

I would love it if when the networks became aware of a fight fans want that they put them both on the same card (like for instace BAD on HBO) and then they face each other on a bigger card (like WCB).

yeah, that is a poor move. I wish they'd understand the fans don't just want to see x fighter and z fighter, they want to see the MATCH UP between the two.

The networks/promo companies spend too much time building up fights that never go down. It's disastrous to the equity they have with the fans

There isn't really much point in watching boxing 10 months out of the year now. It's so predictable that you can even guess the future mismatches following the current mismatches.

I'm all for building a fight, its just that it shouldn't take that long.

You are so right about equity. Fans got pissed when Stevenson v Kovalev broke down. We should have gotten pissed when HBO allowed stevenson and kovalev to fight another tune up when stevenson balked at the fight.

They should've told both guys-fight on the same card then fight each other.

That's why it's useless complaining about the cold war when GBP fighters don't even fight each other. Broner is back fighting bums, instead of fighting his fellow losers like Matthysse, Alexander, Berto, etc.
