Comments Thread For: Leapai: I Will Need a KO To Beat Klitschko in Germany

Alex Leapai's trainer believes if the Australian can win the world heavyweight boxing title, it will be as big an upset as when James "Buster" Douglas defeated Mike Tyson.

Douglas shocked the boxing world in 1990 when he knocked out then undefeated world champion Tyson in Tokyo.

And Noel Thornberry expects a similar reaction if his man can stop legendary Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko in Oberhausen, Germany on April 26.

Good to see Leapai going to Germany full of confidence... I stil believe this fight is going to end by knockout within 4 rounds... Wladimir gonna use is normal tactics jab jab and grab and follow by the straight right hand, just like Mormecks fight...

Yeah because the Klitschkos are notorious for gifts. As I recall, Leapai got a fair decision against Boytsov in Germany. I'm willing to bet there's more robberies in Australia than Germany, even with less fights made.

Wladimir did say that he is somewhat distracted with all the events unfolding in Ukraine and one punch can change everything in the HW division, so yeah Leapai certainly has a puncher's chance.

He needs a gun and a bullitproof vest to get past the first 3 rounds.

He will need a KO, and a lot of other things....Luck being one of them.

Leapai would have a punchers chance, if he was a puncher... which he isn't, so there.

he would need a knockout on mars too... douglas was a decent HW at the time. alex leapai is not. he did get a full camp & i'm assuming he's in the best shape of his career but he couldn't take kevin Johnson's punches...this would be a bigger upset then douglas\Tyson. going into the Tyson fight douglas beat trevor berbick & oliver McCall before that fight. he had beated greg page a few years prior before he lost to tony tucker in his first attempt at a title. he had some experience as he beat former champions page, berbick & future champion McCall. he may have been a 40-1 underdog but he wasn't some journeyman feasting on duds. he went 3-1 vs 4 world champions before beating Tyson. leapai has a win over boytsov who was overrated & had accomplished nothing. he also has a few other wins over journeymen...this would be a way bigger upset then douglas' win over Tyson...

This will be huge, bigger than when Douglas beat Tyson!

You don't mess with Aussie delivery drivers!

I hope leapai just comes forward and throws bombs until either he gets KO'd (very likely )or he somehow lands something big. I just dont want to hear that he got jabbed and grabbed for the whole time. I wanna see someone make wlad fight the whole damn fight.
