Wladimir Klitschko plans to box on for another decade to break Joe Louis's record as the longest reigning heavyweight champion.

The 38-year-old Klitschko, who has held “world” titles since 2006, will defend his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts against Australian challenger Alex Leapai in Oberhausen, Germany, on Saturday.

10 more years of fighting bums and raking in 20 mil a fight...I wouldn't retire either. Wlad's got more fights than Hopkins already and taken a lot more punishment in the game...could he really keep it up to age 48 like Nard even if he is fighting these bums? Pretty sure someone will come a long eventually and spark him and retire him

        YES!!!!

This is excellent news. Wlad is focused on numbers, not personal rivals or named opponents. Which is the way it should be. No opponent from now on until retirement will be a "Great fighter" since all of them will be challengers looking for greatness by beating Wlad first. So it's a moot point when some Low IQ nitwit starts flapping his gums about: What great fighter/HOF caliber did Wlad beat?

Good luck to him on that endeavor, he has two things that will help him that won't go away power and range which are huge things to have at heavy.

So he might have a shot given heavies in general age pretty well, he takes care of himself, and he really doesn't take much punishment in the ring. Not to mention the opposition isn't looking extra stiff for at least the next few years

He'll have a lot of mandatories to face:

Leapai next week, then Pulev, then perhaps unification, then in 2015 winner of Fury-Chisora, also the next WBA champion/mandatory in late 2015. And if he unifies, he'll have to fight Wilder and the next WBC mandatory after that.

For a couple of years he had trouble finding qualified and willing opponents, but from now on there will be lots of them.

Wladimir will systematically purge this new wave of opposition like he did the last, once Fury,Pulev,Wilder and Arreoa have been dealt with,it'll be on to Joshua and Hughie.not without a few more Mormeck's and Pianeta's along the way.

When one of these posters say that Wlad needs to mix it up and go "for the kill" on some opponent that he is supposed to knock out in 2 rounds - what they're really telling you is that they want to see him lose. If it's not broken, don't fix it. If Wlad has an Amir Khan chin problem, then it hasn't really been a problem precisely because of the way he fights. If only Amir Khan could fix his fighting style to the point that his chin isn't a problem anymore.

Wlad's style is made for longevity. A conservative fighting style where he maximizes his height advantage and his accuracy with straight shots, as opposed to looping shots. And he doesn't have to get "exciting" for the sake of entertainment, because unlike Rigindoux who can't sell 10 tickets - he has a fan base. Wlad just needs to keep trucking away, producing title defense after title defense. Alex Lapei after Alex Lapei if they're mandatories, with the occasional Wilder/David Haye here and there.

I want Wlad to stink out the joint against Lapei just for personal amusement.

Don't KO him. Keep him on his legs until the 12th. Then lets read all the post-fight complaining as I maniacally ********** to it all. Wlad is past entertaining fans and giving them a good time. It's all numbers and legacy at this point.

Subjective opinion based on quality of opposition is irrelevant. All that matters is the 62nd win, 16th overall Title defense and gunning for the WBC at some point.
