Hopkins at 170 would beat GGG. He isn't no Osumanu Adama!

lol and who did GGG beat to make you believe he could defeat a proven all time great like Bernard Hopkins? Interesting logic.

Well I am a tanned Hispanic and I say GGG is a MW, Hopkins is a LHW, GGG would bite off more than he can chew. It is true that a win over Chavez Jr at 168, who lost to a former 154 pounder, does not translate to being able to beat Hopkins at 170.

A far better fighter than GGG in Winky Wright tried to beat B-Hop at 170lbs and failed. Kelly Pavlik a 4-1 favorite who was supposed to KO Hopkins at 170lbs, failed miserably. If we talk about Hopkins being older now, well Pascal who is IMO a bigger, faster, better SMW-LHW than GGG will be, failed twice.

It's not about race, GGG is a good ****er, he'll give a good fight to Chavez Jr, probably beat him, but B-Hop is another league. Chavez Jr doesn't even have a win over a SMW.

I admit that GGG hasnt really been truly tested and he has only beaten a couple of decent fighters.

GGG has a good amateur record and think that he is better then a mindless robot that a lot of people make him out to be.

Hopkins is old, people are only saying that he is a top p4p fighter because they take his age into consideration.

The p4p list shouldnt be a charity imo.

And I dont know why there is this GGG comparison with Hopkins any way, why not say Ward v Hopkins because that is more realistic.

I would too ... B-Hop would have to turn the fight ugly as soon as the second round. Because GGG is just too aggressive and relentless for B-Hop to box & slip his punches all night.

I'm not a fan of Hopkins but I respect what he's accomplished......however do we really need yet another fighter from lower weights move up to fight Hopkins??? A lot of his biggest wins were just that, fighters smaller moving up to fight him from JMW/MW.

Trinidad established himself as a legit MW by stopping Joppy, before getting stopped by Hopkins, who he himself couldn't stop Joppy. Trinidad a MW title holder. That's a MW. No matter where he came up from, he was a MW.

Hopkins moved up 15lbs to defeat Antonio Tarver for The Ring 175 title.

Taylor was a MW, Hopkins fought 24 close rounds with him.

Johnson, Eastmen, Vanderpool, Allen were all legit MW's.

Pascal, Tarver, Cloud were all legit LHW's

Hopkins fighting "smaller" fighters is blown way out of proportion. Winky couldn't get a fight, Hopkins couldn't get a fight, both made compromises. Of course Winky made a bigger compromise but that was on him. Pavlik was parading around that he was too big for MW and will be more comfortable at 170lbs(similar to Hatton saying the same vs Mayweather at 147).

Beating Chavez Jr and then Ward in HBO will make him just that. Not that he'll surely beat Ward. Regardless, he's an HBO fighter, this is just fantasy fight sake. Hopkins was a MW too you know.

Pavlik, Oscar, and Wright were 3 of his most high profile wins though. Meanwhile Floyd gets crapped out for beating Marquez at WW still, even though Marquez beat the supposed best WW after the fact.
