In his prime, Roy was an amazing fighter, one of the best ever.

He was a fantastic, talented boxer who could have given us many awesome fights but he had a clear, defined path where he would rack up a string of defences against average opponents. He took one risk against Kessler, which paid off. He was also a heavy favourite for the Hopkins fight, but looked like **** in a fight so bad that no-one deserved to win.

Calzaghe's career is what it is. He made good money, he kept his "0", and I doubt he gives a **** that internet nerds think he ducked a lot of good fights. He doesn't deserve people propping up his legacy. He didn't care about it, so why should we?
He was not a heavy favorite against Hopkins. It was pretty much an even fight going in. Might have been -130 for Joe at one point.

Funny how everyone's tone changes now. Back then Hop fans blamed the weight on Hopkins losing to Taylor. "He couldn't keep up the work rate," they said. When he beat up Tarver and Winky that changed. Then Calzaghe beat him and he was old again. Dawson is the only guy to make him look bad since.

Hopkins' success since the Calzaghe fight does make Joe look better. Calzaghe will never be close to as great as Hop because he took too long to step up his opposition, but lets not act like his win does not look more impressive with each Hopkins victory.

Remember when Hopkins was supposedly too old and shot after that fight? Freddie Roach thought he should retire because he walked to the wrong corner. Hell he was a 3-1 underdog against Kelly Pavlik...

Firstly, Calzaghe was a big favourite going into that fight. He was very highly rated coming into the fight, having beaten Kessler, and at the peak of his powers.

Secondly, NO - Hopkins success does NOT boost Calzaghe's (proportional to his talent) **** resume. He eeked out a sloppy win whilst getting knocked down in the process - Chad Dawson did miles better.

Calzaghe gets no respect from Hopkins fans, no surprise here. I agree though, it makes Joe look much greater every time the senior citizen takes a W.

Every gram of coke that Joe snorts adds to the legacy of his drug dealer.

No, many outside the UK including myself are fair about Joe.
