Exactly. I was thinking the same.

Sucks that I don't think this fight will ever be made to find out the answer though.

I saw Cotto exposed the other day. He was nearly KO'd, but managed to pull himself together. Still he didn't look nearly as dominating as he has in some other fights, and spent quite a bit of time ducking and moving (not in a good way)....

I don't know. What good is power if your delivery method is lacking. Torres always throws these big looping wide shots. Against a world class fighter unless he improves his technique he will be nothing more than an opponent. Having said that, he does hit with alot of force. Not harder than Margarito though. He's just not one of the guys you'll likely see as a champion. Somewhat seasoned fighters seem to give Torres alot of trouble.

Taking a look at his record, he likes to pop boxing cherries. He has issues with fighters who are above average technically. But if you're 2-0 or 1-0 or whatever it may be, Torres will send your ass back to workin the drive-thru quicker than you can say 'welcome to jack in the box.'

I think Margarito would win a thrilling 3 round fight by KO.

Good to see Gunstar's showin' his ass as usual. I think Margarito would win by KO. Cotto is the more skilled boxer, but he's got that questionable chin. I think Margarito's too big, and too powerful. I could see Cotto winning, but he would have to avoid getting hit with bombs, and I can't see him avoiding those big shots for 12 rounds. I think it's very possible that Miguel would be up on the scorecards when Margarito caught him. I think if it did go the distance that Cotto would win, unless he tasted canvas several times. This would be an interesting bout, but in the end, Margarito's power and Cotto's susceptible defense would lead to a KO for Antonio. But, whoever said Branco would beat Cotto has obviously never seen the Gatti- Branco fight. Arturo got caught with a few shots, but he floored Gianluca, and won a relatively easy decision. Branco's not a big puncher, and even though Cotto's got a questionable chin, Gianluca doesn't have Torres' power. Cotto should beat Branco easily. I'm predicting a 6th round stoppage.

I think Margarito is too big and strong for Cotto and would win a very exciting fight probably by KO or TKO.

You don't even know the guys name. You've probably never seen him in action. His name is MARGARITO, not Margarita. A margarita's a drink with Tequilla, genius.

                  margarito by KO

I think Margarito is too big for Cotto, but Cotto has the better boxing skills. He might me able to avoid Margarito's right hand but he CAN'T avoid it all night , he will eventually get caught with one. He will go down after that and will be more carfull of that right hand. It would be a GREAT fight that will never happen.
And for Gunstar1 who says Torres hits harder then Margarito I would like to remind him that Torres is a welter Jr and Margarito is a BIG welter.

Marg dosent have the slickness or the speed corley has,he dosent even have the speed Torres, has.

Margarito looks good when hes working combinations, but he dosent have the speed. He also throws wide shots,Margarito would not outbox cotto,PERIOD.

Im not saying he's not a dangerous fighter, and he stands a good chance at beating cotto, but its no more than 50/50.Although we have yet to see cotto @ 147,I think it'll be his best weight, but just my opinion , I know.

As far as gameplan, almost all cotto needs to do is keep his movement,Margarito wants to follow? Fine, he'll get countered and cut up all night.Cotto's been getting in some excellent condition,he looks ready to fight between fights. The only real flaw in cotto's gameplan would be getting hit by a big right against the ropes, where gomez ****ed up and where cotto got hit the worst against Abduallev, but Cotto shows something improved every fight, the more and more i think about it the more I see a sure victory for cotto.
I agree with Golden Boy that that was a very good post. I have a similar opinion, but think Margarito would eventually get to him and stop him. However, if Cotto eluded the big shots throughout the fight, he would outbox him en route to a victory. I sent some k your way, playa.

I'm well aware that Cotto took extra chances with Chop Chop because he didn't believe Corley could hurt him. Against Torres he got caught flat out.

But Miguel is not elusive enough to evade Antonio for 12 rounds. He's just not that type of fighter. Cotto is a good fighter and I think he can be a serious player at Welter. I'd pick him over Baldomir and Collazo right now.

Margarito's gameplan is not going to be to box Miguel. He's going to apply the pressure and ****'s going to get hot, real hot. Cotto will get his shots in no doubt, but it isn't going to seriously hurt Tony. And Cotto is going to have to take some to give some. And I just don't think he can take Margarito's shots.
We see things very similarly in this thread, and it's good to see people handling themselves with class, so I sent you some k, as well. Good stuff...
