Virgil Hunter and Robert Garcia don't believe Freddie Roach deserved the 2013 Trainer of the Year award. Top trainer Abel Sanchez doesn't agree.

"I think it's sour g****s," Sanchez told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday. "I think that Freddie actually trains his guys and actually works with his guys and it's obvious in all the tapes that you see of him. Freddie has done some good things with the guys that he's worked with in the year that he got named."

I agree. No way should roach have for the award. Pretty disgraceful. Garcia, shields, Joel Diaz, Diaz that trains rigo all did more.

If Roach has Cotto beating Martinez in an upset after Pacquiao gained back WBO Welterweight belt. That right there would win it alone for this year and make up for last year....doesnt matter what else happens with other trainers fighters. Those two huge money making fights alone should win it for him this year

It did seem kind of odd to give it to Roach last year, they really should spread it around a bit. Just seemed kind of like a lazy default, "oh trainer of the year I guess Roach again" without really thinking about it.

So what do you call yourself then? He wasn't with Ruslans corner that's true but he already done with his training and preparation with him and his assistant took over from there. BWAA consists of many different writer from different publications, they vote, no guns on their heads, they vote and voted for Roach. Did he deserves it? For me no, does it matter what I think?
