Only an amateur fight fan would think Kovalev would destroy Hopkins, even at his age. His chin has been tested by the greatest and in case you haven't noticed, rhythm is not the easiest thing to maintain while fighting him. Kovalev would not do to Hopkins what he has done to his other opponents because:

1. Frankly, Kovalev has not fought anyone with close to as much skill as Hopkins

2. Hopkins HAS fought fighters as skilled as Kovalev and fighters who are even more skilled than Kovalev.

I don't care who Kovalev KO's or how high his KO% is, he does not KO Hopkins and is not even guaranteed to beat him. I would put $ on Hopkins simply because he would be the betting underdog and because he has a legitimate chance to beat up a younger stronger opponent as he has shown us many times in the past.

Kovalev was wise not to want Hopkins. If he won everybody would say he beat an old fighter and if he lost it would be worse.
