The majority of the biggest fights in boxing always land at a casino in Vegas. The promoters have deals with the casinos, and the majority of the revenue comes from PPV.

In 2007, Floyd Mayweather fought Oscar De La Hoya.

In that same year, Joe Calzaghe fought Mikkel Kessler.

The Mayweather vs De La Hoya fight was fought in front of around 17,000.

The Calzaghe vs Kessler fight was fought in front of over 50,000

But the Mayweather vs De La Hoya fight was the biggest grossing fight of all time at that point. (It may still be the case?)

Whereas, the Calzaghe vs Kessler fight, wasn't seen as a huge fight outside of Europe.

I live in Vegas... the prices aren't even comparable, how about we discuss how much money was made at the gate. Manny drawing 15k made more money than 80k people in a stadium, fact.

Pac filled, what, 60k in Texas against Clottey? Something like that?

MGM is going to charge a fortune for those seats and make a truckload of money off it.

the seats at the MGM are f#cking crazy expensive.

this wasn't that big of a fight, but single seats ringside were selling for 20 grand or more a few weeks out from the canelo fight. american secondary ticket markets are absolutely insane.

they also gamble a bit in vegas.

mgm doesn't make money from ticket revenues. the promotor does. mgm is paid a site fee.

they make money when people lose it at the casino, sportsbook, and pay 500-700 for two nights at their smallest hotel rooms.

a suite at MGM is several grand a night.

it's also about as good as publicity gets for a casino to be the site of the biggest boxing matches on the planet.

Op Put Manny Pacquiao in his home country Philippines and he can sell out 200k stadium if they had one that big lol. Of course Froch Groves will sell in their HOME country lol. Compare their fights on American soil than we can talk.

Pacman is the biggest foreign ppv draw in US boxing history.

Look up boxing history no other foreign born fighter has been able to draw as much as he in the USA or PPV.

Lets see how Froch or Groves can sell at Cowboys stadium they might not even sell 3,500 tickets and 90 percent of those will be bought by Brits.

Also when Hatton fought in America he had few American fans the British had to fly over and buy tickets to fill up the stadium. I remember when before he fought Floyd he was fighting in a ballroom in vegas, and it was all british crowd, and than when he fought Floyd there were like 15 k brits in vegas who flew over, Hatton was a huge British draw but if not a single Brit showed up there would be few Americans buying tickets to watch him fight stateside like with Pacquiao

Pacmans fans in America are Americans of different races, who fill up his events.

You must be dumb because PAC vs a Bradley in the Phillipine would sell 200k seats .
