Comments Thread For: HBO putting added focus on 160 to 175 weight classes

HBO's first pay-per-view card of 2014 is a welterweight matchup, but the network plans to really focus on fights from 160 to 175 pounds this year, HBO's Mark Taffet told BoxingScene.com.

"In the 68 and 75 pound divisions, there are a lot of stories and a lot of stars developing," Taffet said. "There are great things to look forward to. From 160 to 175, there is a great run of fights to come in 2014."

Neither HBO or Showtime has a hold on 68....HBO with Ward and the other guys being foreign fighters.

175, Showtime got the bulk of the big names with HBO having Kovalev.... weak division below those 3 guys...Mekensov and Oleskander too young in their careers.

160, HBO with the sleight advantage. Showtime hasn't put on many good MW fights, but there are fights available for them to make.

This is it right here! Arum has no fighters anymore.

If HBO dont stop their nonsense, they are going down to showtime!

These network deals are really killing boxing. Andre Ward is too much of an insecure little boy to fight Kovalev. Ward would make Kovalev drain himself to make 168 lbs and want the fight in Oakland.

WE all know Ward was the only fighter in the tournament to never fight outside of his home country.
