Even Pacquiao (who most people would never call feather fisted) hasn't had a KO in 5 years. It's not that easy to win that way at the top level.

The feather fisted, pillow thrower Floyd Mayweather has a KO% of 58. The decapatating missil launcher Manny Pacquiao has a KO% of 61. That's just another one of those fun facts I like to throw out to show how irrational and uneducated a certain segment of fight fans can be.

IMO, four of the top 5 P4P fighters in the world (Floyd, Ward, Bradley, Rigo) are widely considered below average punchers. And more times than not, their opponents turn in career lows in punch output, especially with Floyd and Rigo. Sure, some of it is frustration of punching and missing. But they've also been hit with something in return that they didn't like too much. If they were so featherfisted, opponents would be more than willing to take two or three to land one and they'd be in more competitive fights.
Bull****. Rigo is NOT an average puncher. Far from it. Even when he chooses to pot shot he HURTS.

Tim definitely has enough power to buzz, and even possibly knockdown, Manny. A KO would indicate a serious erosion in Manny's chin post-JMM 4.

Saying that, I expect Pac to win tonight and I think he is going to hurt Tim. I think pricking Pac's temper is going to turn out not to be the smartest move (I remember reading how Duran was complimentary towards Hagler for their fight, which reduced Marvin's war mentality).

Still, that's just one aspect of it and I am sure it's going to be a very, very difficult fight for Manny, especially as Tim is like JMM in that as much as they get hurt/knocked down, it's hard to actually imagine them being put away for good.

Because there's not a matchmaker with any of these promotional companies that can match a guy perfectly enough to avoid any and everyone that would simply walk through your shots and steamroll you. And I think that's what the writer is attempting to articulate. If Bradley couldn't punch at all, Provo probably would have stopped him inside six rounds.
              Popular opinion? Not fact?

Please, just read what you are saying. He has one KO against credible competition. that was Joel Casamayour who was old, basically shot and has fought 95% of his career in a lower weight than Bradley. Yes Bradley did a number on him but he was supposed to.

The fact is that he is not a "B" type of power guy.

I rest my case. That's proof, not just my opinion.

Now, on to saying that you can't be successful at the highest level without pop. Witaker and Malignaggi say otherwise.
