He was dropped in that fight, dropped in the Chavez fight, dropped in every fight prior up to the first Williams fight. His defense is sloppy, he is very easy to hit and he is actually pretty easy to drop.

Cotto will have the speed advantage in this fight, period. You "know it all" type guys can say otherwise but Sergio is fast compared to 180+ pounders, Cotto was keeping up with guys at 140 and 147. He'll cut off the ring on the slower Martinez and Sergio backs straight up into the ropes, not to metion Cotto is a far smarter fight than Sergio. He started younger and had a prestine amateur career. All that being said, it's still a close fight as Sergio isn't a bad fighter and again he is the bigger man and Cotto doesn't not have the chin. But, skills pay the bills and Cotto is a much better all around boxer/fighter than Sergio.
Well if we're being honest as much as Cotto is loved and respected he's not a great fighter either. He's a really good fighter but not close to being great. It's not being a "hater" it's just being realistic.

Martinez is good enough to take advantage of his size difference against Cotto. Your accusing other of being the "know it all" types yet go on about how great Cotto was at 140 and 147( which he was) but all those great attributes have been missing at 154 specially the speed advantage your suggesting he'll have on Sergio.

It's just illogical to think he'll go from being a middle of the pack Jr. Middleweight to being the top dog at middleweight.

Yea amazing that everyone is so called experts of the game BUT Cotto has always given exciting fights and had his shots in all his fights even the ones he lost. So i dont know why people are saying its going to be a massacre.

Cotto is more skilled and the better boxer , only thing that worries me is the size differential i saw when they stood next to each other. Some guy made a good point, if Cotto couldnt take Pacquiaos 147's best shots, what more of Martinezs. But if Cotto can take it , i think it takes the fight as well!

Why is Roach doing this. Wouldn't it be something if he had the same year he had in 2012? Losing damn near every fight after talking so much **** back to back.

Then, IMHO, you don't know Cotto very well. He's always been a fast starter and a pace setter. He's tremendously skilled and he won't make it easy for anyone.

Wonder what Roach will have to say when Cotto is carried out of the ring after being lifted off of the canvas?

Cotto tries to press Martinez, that gives Martinez plenty of countering opportunities. One thing about Cotto is he's never been good defensively. He gets hit a lot. I don't just mean connect percentage. I mean actual punch count. Cotto made things pretty easy for Pacquiao after about 3 or 4 rounds. Cotto's lost to the last two southpaws he's fought. I could see Cotto maybe doing well in round 1 as they feel each other out. But once things settle in, I think Martinez will take over.
Ok, let's split hairs. I'll give Cotto a little more credit than that. He'll do better than you're saying, but yes, he will run into problems at some point and it won't be pretty. No disagreement there.

I've been saying this before it was signed. Cotto will outbox him at times. Cotto 116-112 or 115-113.

Ive had Cotto in this fight for a while not not changing it.
