  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr. Hints at Body Battering on Maidana

Floyd Mayweather is deep into training for his showdown with WBA Welterweight champion Marcos Maidana as they will square off May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. From all accounts and from what BoxingScene saw last week when they paid the champ a visit, he’s looking tremendous and ready to go.

Floyd and his father Floyd Mayweather Sr reunited last year after years of being estranged as the older Mayweather is back to being the head trainer. The pairing has produced two dominant victories for Mayweather Jr who looks to try to add a third one in less than a month.

Maidana does get hurt in the body a lot but I doubt Floyd is going to be brave and try to land them. That means getting close

You missed the Gatti & Canelo fight, huh? Not to mention, Floyd has fought a lot harder punchers than Maidana and stood right in front of them.

Man this fight is creeping up QUICK. Come Sunday, it's in plain sight.

I think Mayweather might and ONLY sneak in a jab to the body like he always does.

Nothing more dramatic than that. He won't tee off. That's for sure, f.uck around and get clocked by a loopy right.

Yes, but he hasn't really fought a lot of people as awkward, with power in as many unconventional punches, as Marcos Maidana. Maidana may only have a puncher's chance, but his puncher's chance is a lot more than the chances a lot of 'skilled guys', or just 'strong guys'. Until Floyd gets 'old' anybody too conventional, who isn't really dynamic, doesn't stand much of a chance IMHO. While I think Maidana has been chronically under rated throughout his career I think Floyd will probably just be too much for him. Well, unless he isn't and he gets caught with something he didn't see coming that has a lot of power (which is pretty much the story of Maidana). So much of Floyd's style depends on anticipation that I think this fight could get a lot more interesting than people give it credit for.
