According to the World Boxing Council, Amir Khan vs. Luis Collazo has been sanctioned for the WBC silver welterweight title on May 3rd at the MGM Grand on the undercard of the WBC/WBA welterweight unification between Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana. That would, in turn, placed the Khan-Collazo winner in line for a shot at the Mayweather-Maidana winner, but in no way would that guarantee that Khan or Collazo would actually secure the Mayweather-Maidana winner. Khan is former world champion. I would think fighting for a silver belt would be insulting.
