I think Bob arum is cashing out on boxing. He's hurting the sport more than any single person.

But, he is right in this situation from a business standpoint.
      MGM messed up.

He brought up a good point about MGM Grand's lack of professionalism until that last statement. Sounds like something we've read on here before. *Cough*check hooks,PAC-BOY,Junior Gong*cough*

"I think I know what happened but I'm not sure. What I really believe, but without knowing [for sure] - is they screwed around that they would go to Barclays, which they never [would go] because of taxes. It's all bull****. And these guys [at the MGM] fell for it and part of what they said [to the MGM] was - 'put our signs up all over when the Pacquiao [fight happens]. And I'm sure we're gonna discover that [they said that]..... 'f*** the contract that you have with Arum, f*** that.' And [the MGM said] 'we're gonna do it because we don't want him to go to Barclays.' Do I know that for sure? No I don't. But that's what I smell," Arum said.

MGM is that ******, just look how they handled this event. Richard Shaefer is that ****** as well, he overpaid Mayweather and created this monster. Richard is ******, and Showtime is ******, the reason they gave Floyd a massive contract is they believed it would help them in the long term, it won't! their idea was lets invest in a big name like Floyd hoping his fans will carry over, or casuals will transfer and become hardcore fans and start following up and coming guys, it won't and will never work that way.

This is where they will take a loss, MGM leaving those Floyd posters up does smell of a handshake deal or a threat.

Only way boxing will grow is if you invest in it as a whole, having a big name on your network only works for specific events for that big name fighter, it won't carry over to having new fans be fans of fighters who fight on there.

This only works if the networks invest in a boxing program and really push their boxing program. ESPN had the chance but they don't invest, they could have carried the sport to be honest, ESPN Friday Night Fights on ABC could have been a huge money maker for the network, unlike Football and basketball, and other sports, ESPN won't have to pay the rights to those leagues, Boxing is all their own, its ESPN boxing and promoters do business with ESPN and have to abide by them, so ESPN Boxing is really their original sport that they have full control over their boxing program while basketball is NCAA, NBA, baseball is MLB, football is NFL licensed, Boxing on ESPN is their original programming.

Even the Texas Holdem Poker is not their own its another companies.

This is why ESPN is a joke to me, the only sport brand that is original to them and their own is Friday Night Fights and they don't even push it.

Win-Win for Arum...all the other casinos are now salivating..they may have smaller venues but they are just as profitable. Don't be surprised to see boxing events outside of the MGM later this year. Actually this may benefit all of boxing, create a competition between casinos like they have with the networks.

He's got to stir up as big a ruckus as he can because the fight is on Saturday and he needs more ticket sales + ppv buys.

Mayweather is going to hold a press conference on the Saturday morning of the Pac fight in the MGM. This was planned before Bob's rant. That the MGM would even allow this shows their professionalism.

People keep on saying this, but it make zero sense to me. It's the weirdest theory. Please explain the connection. Who in the world decides to buy a PPV because an old man's rant that's unrelated to the actual fights? The only people who are are ever going to hear about this is the hardcore fans who keep up with boxing news, and this will matter an iota to them when it comes to buying the PPV.
