As much as I can't stand Bob Arum, this silent takeover by Golden Boy should make people nervous.

I read that the people from the MGM personally called DuBoef or Arum in December requesting that Manny's next US fight be at the MGM Grand.

You mean, GBP/Showtime wouldn't do something unethical like this? The same lawyer that formed GBP now runs Showtime, that is some slimy chit

For Arum being ***** MGM should make a big Mayweather-Maidana banner open up over the ring during the fight.

            True.

But Mayweather was involved in the top two highest grossing fights of all time. At the MGM Grand.

His last 8 fights have been held there. Four of those in May.

If ole Bob didn't want any competition at all for the venue, maybe he could have held the fight at Thomas and Mack. Or Dallas Stadium. Or the freaking imaginary stadium that he was supposed to build.

My mirth over this whole thing isn't a Manny vs Mayweather thing, of who is the biggest swinging dick in terms of drawing power.

It's Bob losing his shit, and there being 6 threads about on NSB.

This shit is getting out of control with the two promotional companies. Now Arum, wants to drag in the venues to the Promotion\Network wars.

I say Bob, go on a build that stadium!!!!!

People who suspect this stuff normally do so because they do it themselves.

                  Hes like a spoiled child.

It does worry me, I believe competition leads to advance and the best possible product while a monopoly just leads to getting stale.

While one side weakening and being forced to the table essentially would be good short run most likely, long run that is not good unless another group comes to take over for the one that falls off.

Really the ideal solution is a third group becomes powerful, because with 2 groups they will just go at it but with 3 it gives another option and neither group can afford to not work with the third group because if either group gets a strangle hold on that relationship the balance of power is forever shifted.

A resurrected King Promotions would be fantastic. Anything really. Whenever I watch smaller cards on the Spanish networks I'm floored by how many prospects and amateurs GBP has snatched up. They really aren't playing. I'd like to believe they will do right by the sport (and maybe they will) but it's dangerous to assume that when one person/group wields so much power.
