Canelo vs. Lara: Post Fight Discussion Thread

Lara takes this one. Canelo is a solid fighter, but he still has bad conditioning and he's only most effective when the opponent is either a come-forward fighter like Angulo or flat footed like Mosley. He's a very accurate puncher and has a lot of pop but he won't be able to do enough to beat Lara and it seems he gets frustrated at times when guys like Trout or Floyd don't stand still and let themselves be punching bags. Lara is not easy to hit, has that deadly straight left like Rigo and Canelo can't cut the ring off like Angulo did. Lara takes this no closer than 8-4 but it'll definitely be a great fight.

Canelo can't punch on the move, has crap stamina, gasses after 6 rounds, can't punch on the move, can't get off combinations without planting his feet in cement, did I mention he can't punch on the move?

I have to go with Lara. Canelo is a great combination fighter but he needs either a flat footed opponent or one who's willing to stand there in front of him, or thereabouts in order for Canelo to mix up his combinations from head to body. Which at times can be blistering. Canelo finds it very difficult to track fighters and punch on the move, you saw this with Floyd. Canelo gets gassed out quickly and he needs all that stamina for the later rounds.

And Lara is just not the type of guy to stand there and get hit. Lara has the potential to make it a similar fight to the Floyd fight. Too slick and technical for Canelo. Too many skills and of course as we all know, skills pays the bills. The left cross (straight left) will be there all night.

I see him outboxing Canelo but not for all 12 rounds. More like 8-4. But a 9-3 is very possible.
