The original poster was looking for examples where there was an "extreme athleticism and talent gap" and the less talented guy still won.

Lol...maybe I will read the first post next time...because just the thread title would be seemingly 90% of fights.

I don't agree with Tyson/Douglas. Douglas was a great athlete with good power and size. He was just lazy as **** and had motivation issues.

I believe there was. Amir khan had superior hand speed, athletcism and technique. Danny had better power and chin (which aren't due to athleticism) imo. The only advantage Danny had in that fight was his dad throwing amir khan off of his game and his superb left hook. Danny is a very limited fight (talent/athleticism wise), but maximizes his tools/gifts.

I think in terms of true athleticism and skill gaps.. Martinez-Chavez

                  Floyd-Baldo

Roy Jones vs Ruiz (of most of his opposition really)

                  Canelo-Angulo looked bad too.

                  Gary Rusell Jr vs TBA

GGG vs Ishida was pretty bad...

                  Pac vs Rios
                  Pac vs Diaz
yeah but topic was "fights where the guy with less athleticism won".

Speaking of Maidana, Maidana vs. Ortiz.

Honestly, Maidana had nothing on Ortiz besides determination. Ortiz had more talent, skill, power, better chin, and Maidana broke him.
