  • Comments Thread For: Photos: Arthur Abraham, Nikola Sjekloca Face To Face

Here are the main quotes from today’s kick-off press conference ahead of the fight between WBO Super-Middleweight World Champion Arthur Abraham and Nikola Sjekloca on May 3 at the Velodrom Berlin, Germany, which will host its first ever world title fight.

Nikola Sjekloca: "I am going to dethrone the 'King' Arthur and take his title away. Last year, I had a competitive fight against Sakio Bika, who went on to win the WBC Belt. Now I want to win the WBO Title and unify against Bika in a rematch. I do not underestimate Abraham as I am following his career since he had his first world championship fight. I studied his style in detail and know how to beat him." [Click Here To Read More]

Sjekloca is getting paid peanuts for this fight.

I know this for a fact because Sauerland initially offered the title shot to a compatriot of mine, a total no name guy with a padded record who would normally jump at a chance like this, but even he said the money was ridiculous.

That may be, but Arthur's is obviously at a different angle. At least, it should be obvious...

If that is the case id say that was not a smart move. He could have accepted peanuts for short term and may be win the belt and make six figures in the long run. Oh well.

True, but the guy is pretty old, and while he does have ambition and wants to win a belt before he retires, he probably also wants to get paid well in case he loses.

I wish AA well in this one. He needs to stay on track, even if this is the tail end of his career.

Not much stood out when I looked at Sjekloca's record, but he still has a shot if AA doesn't pay attention to Ulli. AA is notorious for not listening, that and way slow starts. Maybe Ulli needs to smack him in the dome a few times? HA
