Comments Thread For: Abregu Targets Brandon Rios, Wants Big Fight at 147

Fresh from his TKO win over undefeated Jean Carlos Prada from Saturday night in Salta, Argentina - WBC #1 contender Luis Carlos "El Potro" Abregu (36-1, 29KOs) is looking for a big fight at welterweight.

Abregu has won seven in a row since losing a twelve round decision to Timothy Bradley in 2010. Those wins include victories over Thomas Dulorme and Antonin Decarie.

Abregu wants to get back on HBO and one fighter he would like to trade punches with is Brandon Rios (31-2-1, 23KOs), who moved up to welterweight in November and lost a twelve round decision to Manny Pacquiao.

147? Sounds good! Better than having to make a catchweight of 143 for Rios-Demarco.

Oh man, yeah, Rios will get retired against Abregu...then people will start to recognize the threat.

Abregu can show us what he's got vs Bambi. Then after if he wins, I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch vs Tim.

Can't tell if you are serious or not. Abregu has a somewhat fragile chin. If Rios puts the pressure on and really hits Abregu with some big shots, Abregu could potentially get stopped. Or, Rios could be finished and Abregu's power will be enough to get him out of there.

Agree, Abregu looked chinny vs Estrada and was getting dropped left and right vs Irving Garcia in an awesome brawl

Slightly favor Abregu in this one.

ABREGU is not chinny and he beat RIOS,ABREGU is the best from ARGENTINA (the most underrated in the sport) and he called out many times MAIDANA after ORTIZ but MAIDANA was at 140 so he has never take the call, now with the cold war we can't watch this great fight from two men from the same country and many bad blood between them. ABREGU outboxe RIOS more than ABRIL did!!!!
