We saw in his last fight how badly Kovalev reacted to a headbutt... how would he fare against someone who had that as 90% of their boxing arsenal?

Kovalev's an exciting fighter, but I can see him getting Hopkinated.

Kovalev is special. And its just not his power. Look at the angles he creates before he even throws a punch. And he throws hard shots to the body that hurt. He KO'd a a guy whos never been knocked down in his career and was undefeated with a jab to the body.

There no one at 168,175 or 200 that beats him

Kovalev is made for Hopkins but time catches up with even the best of fighters.

How would a man hitting 50 do when a guy hits as hard and works as effectively as Kovalev? What can Hopkins seeming indestructible chin take at this stage in his career? How much farther can his body take him? Father time catches all men and Hopkins is not immune. I'm not even sure he can come through Shumenov and if he does, surely he can't beat a guy who hits as hard and is as fast as Stevenson?

If Hopkins manages wins over both then a Kovalev fight is a natural progression and the cherry on top of one of the greatest careers in our sport.

Hopkins is made for Kovalev. To beat Kovalev you need KO power or unreal speed, something Hopkins never had.

Scary thing about Kovalev and GGG is that these guys have deep amateur backgrounds and can box and use their heads, instead of marching forward relentlessly.

I think Hopkins beats Kovelev, Think he beats Shumenov & Stevenson too.

I wouldn't go that far. He's good, and is showing himself to be reasonably versatile in his attack, but he's not special. He's just good.

If he knocked out Hopkins, I'd start to take the hype more seriously and maybe even jump on board a little. As it stands now, he's clearly a good fighter and probably the best at 175 in my opinion, but he's not special. He just hasn't shown special qualities.

... It's a fight that will never happen, anyway.
(I have a bet, with someone here, that B-Hop retires without fighting Kovalev.)
