The big story in Norwegian sports last week was Cecilia Braekhus (24-0, 7KOs), the WBA/WBC/WBA female welterweight champion, announcing that she is splitting with longtime promoter Sauerland Event. Braekhus was lined up to fight on May 24 but all of that is on hold for now. Promoters Kalle Sauerland said there is an existing contract - something it appears that Braekhus and her advisors dispute.

Abraham seems to be very happy at the moment. Helenius has reconciled with Sauerland and Braekhus simply believes her contract expired.

Its clearly a money issue. Where Brækhus would go without Sauerland remains to be seen. Its not like womens boxing is a particularly hot commodity outside Norway, Germany and partly Denmark.

Should professional boxing be unbanned in Norway, which is possible, then Brækhus would make a fortune fighting there.

As for the contract, well Sauerland claims it is still valid. Brækhus, via shady advisors, claims it is not.

This might end in court.
