Comments Thread For: Photos: Braehmer Badly Batters Maccarinelli's Right Eye

Stadthalle, Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany - WBA "regular" light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer stopped former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli in five rounds after a hard left hand in an earlier round would create the starting point of the damage, which eventually shut Ezno's right eye shut. As a result, Braehmer got another TKO win in the fifth round and is now 43-2, with 32 KOs, while the Welshman falls down to 38-7, 30 KOs, with all of his losses coming by way of stoppage.

I wasn't impressed by Braehmer. Despite suffering that horrific injury and getting rocked at the same time in the 1st round (pretty hard not to freeze and become an easy target when your eye goes like that) I thought Enzo acquitted himself very well in difficult circumstances and landed the more telling shots after that.

Maybe Braehmer was being compassionate and just waiting for the inevitable stoppage?

What a misleading title. It was one left hand punch in round one where the thumb connected on enzos eye. The fake paper fraud champ proceeded to fight cautious .

I think Brähmer clearly dominated and shook Macca on multiple occassions in the first two rounds. It looked like he took his foot off the gas after that, and I actually had the welshman winning the last 3 rounds. Maybe Brähmer eased up waiting for the inevitable stoppage. That eye was grotesque.

          "Badly battered"

Brahmer is a horrific bum who held like a b1tch against a one eyed shot to **** Maccarinelli.

Pathetic performance by one of the most wafer thin "champions" in the sport.

He had a mediocre performance against a man who's chin is worse than Khans and best days are clearly behind him

For some reason all the coverage of this fight, especially the preview, read like love tomes to Braehmer, forgetting to mention ****e like his pulling out of fights against legitimate opponents and his only fighting the mediocre, chinny and shot

Maccarinelli looked like a skeleton at the weigh-in and your chin doesn't get better when you move down in weight

But the bigger men at cruiserweight generally punch harder.

It's usually easier to take a light heavyweight punch than a cruiserweight punch.

I thought the eye was initially damaged by a head clash when Brahmer got cut.

It was an embarrassing performance by Brahmer. Pathetic "champion".
