Comments Thread For: Photos: Rubio Flattens Spada For Cotto-Martinez Winner

Natural two-fisted power propelled Marco Antonio Rubio to the title picture, but it was a disciplined performance that finally put a major belt around his waist. The longtime middleweight contender finally came up big in a title fight, boxing early before exploding late to score a 10th round knockout over Domenico Spada, Saturday evening in Delicias, Mexico. Rubio improves to 59-6 (51KO) with the win, his sixth straight. Five of his past six wins have come by knockout, none bigger than Saturday’s performance. Spada remains winless on the road, falling to 38-5 (19KO).

    Congratulations to Rubio.

This is the same Rubio certain posters were saying was over the hill because he quit on his stool?

At least he got out of the way for Cotto-Martinez, guy was becoming a pest.

He would be a waste of a fight for either though. They need to move on to bigger things.

So what does this mean for Rubio? Is he the Mando for the Sergio-Cotto winner?

I dont think he gets a crack at either guy tbh. Don't even have any interest in seeing the winner fight him either.

Sorry every1, saw it, not impressed, same old MAR vs a nothing w/ a record vs no 1...this was a bout promoted 4 months & the place was virtually empty...Ibeth Zamora won a UD 10 over some MX gal , w/a losing record 4 her title...I'd like 2 know how the loser qualifies 4 a title shot..she needs to stand up & fight Kika Chavez who thrashed Bopp last May..

Scorecards look pre-filled out to me. It was not a shutout.
