Comments Thread For: Photos: Giovani Segura Stays on Path To Estrada Clash

In a blistering action affair, Mexican 32-year old former lineal World Jr. Flyweight titlist Giovani Segura (32-3-1, 28 KO) of Bell, California, scored knockdowns in the fourth and tenth rounds en route to a stoppage victory over 23-year old Felipe Salguero (19-6-1, 14 KO) of Toluca, Mexico on Saturday night at the Hipódromo Caliente, Arena Tecate in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

Currently rated #1 by the WBO, Segura appears positioned for a mandatory shot at unified WBA/WBO titlist Juan Francisco Estrada. Estrada (25-2, 18 KO) is scheduled to make the second defense of his titles on April 26th against Richie Mepranum (27-3-1, 6 KO).

I didn't realize until last night that I had this channel and was able to catch the Segura fight, it was a slugfest from the opening rd. I won't miss any future fights on Televisa Deportes, I highly recommend it if you are able to get the channel.

It was a great fight full of action and exchanges. Segura was the one getting the best shots, controlling the fight and also causing more damage but Salguero was doing his best and showed a big heart refusing to give up. It was only at the very final round that Salguero finally yield to the enormous cumulative punishment but he doesn't have anything to feel ashamed because he was a true warrior on the ring. What a fight!! A real war!!

All out slugfest. Little regard for defense yet skilled enough to be entertaining. Great dust up

Veteran tricks 101. Check out that Topo guy's thumb. How lucky was this photographer to catch it in the other guys eye, three times. He was lacing all night, he would have blinded him with a loose thumb.

Segura's fight was on Box Azteca, Rubio's fight was on Televisa deportes, two different TV companies and channels.

JMM, Chavez Jr. and Paquiao fights are on Box Azteca.

Canelo and FMJ fights are on televisa Deportes.
