Apparently, the penalty for leaving the Team Mayweather fold is extreme public humiliation. At least this is what reportedly happened to Floyd Mayweather's ex-fiance Shantel Jackson after she broke up with the five-division world champ and pound-for-pound top dog.
According to online publications Mstarz and MediaTakeOut, Mayweather's former main squeeze has fallen on hard times and recently opted to sell her $63,000 Birkin bag at a high-end Los Angeles pawn shop in order to pay rent.
Jackson, who reportedly sold the purse through a third party and sent along the original receipt for the item (made out to the name of Shantel Jackson Mayweather), was said to have received $31,000 for the bag.
According to media accounts, pawn shop employees then contacted Mayweather and crew about the luxury item just purchased by their store and Mayweather offered to buy back the purse.
A short while later, the purse was prominently featured in a photo taken on Mayweather's private plane, placed on a table and surrounded by laughing, taunting members of the fighter's female entourage.
According to MediaTakeOut, although Jackson escaped with the purse, Mayweather managed to take back all the ***els he showered on his former fiancé during their relationship—reportedly worth about $7.8 million.
It should be noted that there's no evidence linking Mayweather directly to the act of buying back the Birkin bag or to any sort of effort to humiliate Jackson. Also, even if the stories are completely factual, it's certainly not illegal to act out in spite with this sort of nastiness.
If media sources are correct, though, it paints an ugly picture of the world champion and his entourage that only serves to reinforce the already-negative image many have of the undefeated boxing superstar. For the record, neither Mayweather nor any of his representatives have issued any sort of statement regarding Shantel Jackson and the purse in question.
