OSCAR LARIOS dreams of coming to Manila and scoring a victory over Manny Pacquiao.
Larios, the former World Boxing Council (WBC) super-bantamweight titleholder, told the Mexican media about his desire of traveling to the Philippines and pulling off a win that will undoubtedly resuscitate his career.
"Winning a fight over there against Pacquiao is a dream for me," Larios told box-latino yesterday. "(Winning over Pacquiao) is not going to be impossible."
Larios is the frontrunner among a short list of candidates being eyed to duel with Pacquiao sometime in May.
A non-title fight with Larios, originally from Guadalajara, is going to be used by Pacquiao to prepare him for the much-anticipated third fight with Erik Morales on Sept. 16.
The 5-9 Larios has been advised to train hard so that if an agreement is made for him to go to Manila and face Pacquiao, he will be able to come up with a strong showing.
"I am training hard and I know Pacquiao is a great fighter but I know I have what it takes to beat him," said Larios, who holds a 59-4-1 win-loss-draw card with 39 wins inside the distance.
He added that he doesn’t care whether the fight with Pacquiao is going to be at the superfeatherweight of 130 lbs or even at the lightweight class of 135 lbs, stressing that when he goes up the ring, he usually weighs close to 140 lbs.
