Comments Thread For: Shumenov Remains Tight-Lipped On Plan To Beat Hopkins

If you’re waiting for Beibut Shumenov to reveal the secret of how he plans to beat Bernard Hopkins on April 19, you stand a better chance of passing out holding your breath while waiting on that answer.

The Kazakh boxer, now living in and training out of Las Vegas, is all business ahead of his upcoming light heavyweight title unification bout. So much that he refuses to tip his hand or give Hopkins (54-6-2, 32KO) – the absolute boxing master when it comes to pre-fight mind games – any additional ammunition. [Click Here To Read More]

Shumenov seems fairly strong but pretty basic and predictable - possibly a touch better than Murat, but that really ain't saying much.

SHumenov's biggest advantage is power.... and for it to have any effect you have to land it.

Hopkins is NOT gonna chase him down early. He wants shumy to get over confident. Set traps for him. If Hopkins is aggressive from the outset, a guy like shumy will start running and using his height and reach that way. Hopkins doesn't wanna have to do that.

Shumenov is smart. Hopkins isn't going to be able to play mind games this time around. I'm going to stick to my initial prediction that Shumenov takes this one. BHop is a legend but his time has come.

Any recent sparring or mitts training footage from Hopkins? As he himself has stated, "fighters don't get old on fight night, they get old in the gym".

He looked pretty good in his last training camp.
