Amir Khan's great "skills"

So true. Most people can only think in extremes. A fighter is either P4P or a complete bum in their eyes.
Same with Donaire. He lost to Rigo, so he is a bum. And the weirdest thing is, Rigo is top 5 P4P for beating him. I would say that's a pretty lofty ranking for a guy whose best win is a bum...Comment

So top 5 in every division are elite? Hmm. OK.
I dont think Khan sucks but I am realistic about his standing. He is a fun action fighter with defensive flaws. He showed natural talent, speed, solid power and combination punching at 140. He also got KTFO. He is not elite. He is totally unproven at 147. He hasnt done anything impressive in over 2 years.Comment

His footwork gets him into trouble. Not good balance-wise, not in good positions for offense or defense. His steps are either too small, too big, and placed in the wrong spots.Khan gets away with a lot due to his hand speed but let's be honest even though his biscuit chin as failed him many times. He doesn't lack skills. He brags about his power and tbh I think it's average. And he has no inside game which is why I thought Bradley would beat him down like he did to Alexander. But his footwork, speed, jab, combinations, heart. Has got him through alot. I honestly think floyd would have a harder time with khan than maidana but it is what it is.
His speed and heart have gotten him by. If he had the heart of Ortiz, he would have lost to chino and probably quit against pederson.Comment

Paulie should have lost to Pablo Cano. No disrespect to Cano but he's not exactly worldclass. Khan beat Paulie because of his speed, reach and volume. Of course he has some skills but they're not great by any means.Comment

For me Khan has good amateur based boxing abilities.
Hand speed, combination punching and OK power.
His footwork is average at best, his balance is terrible and his inside game is poor.
Defensively he is highly suspect, especially when he tires.
He has some heart, but his courage is misplaced as it often draws him into trading toe to toe, which with his chin is suicide in the pro game.
Elite at European level, very average at world level.
His flaws have not been addressed by any coach - I don't think he has the right level of intelligence to understand tactical boxing that well.
Too much hype by the UK media at a young age, this is what happens.Comment

No of course not, but honestly welterweight is the best packed division in boxing right now. I'm not saying Khan is the new big thing by any means, all I'm saying is that people who is holding him to such a low regard, making him a comic, is off. He's a good boxer and he would beat a lot of good people, but he's not close to being at the top of the division. I think he's looked good on a lot of occasions, but there are some styles which will always beat him, I thought he would beat Maidana, but in hindsight, that bet was extremely lucky, I don't know what kept him on his feet in this fight, usually that style is a nightmare for Khan. Put him in against a boxer and I think he'll look real good.So top 5 in every division are elite? Hmm. OK.

Only to get up again and reap his soul for the rest of the fight. That's Chino alright.
Khantards still crying about not getting the fight. FFsake, he's getting beaten by paperboys and he thinks he deserves a Mayweather fight, come on people!

It is Khan's inactivy that cost him the fight that and his recent poor performances. Maidana has been active just forging ahead with his career,he seems to be learning new things as well and getting better. He has been getting on with the challenges and stepped up to fight Broner who many felt would beat him and that win got him into the Mayweather stakes.
Khan's management has taken the opposite approach being very cautious and protective against another potential loss.Bailing out of the Alexander fight took him out of the running once Madana beat Broner, with a title and that win he would have been favorite out of the 2 to get Mayweather next. His management has a lot to answer for and even more now they have set up a risky fight having played cautious sitting out game for so long.Comment
