Comments Thread For: Collazo: Beating Amir Khan Will Get Me Back To The Top

Eight years after losing his WBA welterweight title to Ricky Hatton, one swatting right hand lifted Luis Collazo back from the brink of obscurity and presented him one last shot at re-establishing himself at the top of the 147lbs division.

The Brooklyn 32-year-old had spent the best part of the last four years propping up undercards with a unanimous decision defeat to the unremarkable Freddy Hernandez in October 2011 seeming to spell the end of his top-level chances.

But Collazo, his belief apparently restored by a new-found faith in God, announced his return to the big-time in emphatic fashion in January 2014 with a stunning second round knockout of former world champion Victor Ortiz in his home city.

Does khan have the power to keep this guy off??

Collazo must be training to repeat what Peterson did!

Thankfully he has stopped with the "Brooklyn coming, Brooklyn this and that".

Khan owns Brooklyn anyways and this fight is going to be no different.

If Khan is as good as he thinks he is then he should stop Collazo and then fight one of the top welters and then lets see!
A move for once in the right direction but lets have some prospective!

Luis Collazo could knock Amir Kahn out chillingly frostily freezing cold by throwing a pair of socks at his face

I still try to figure out how this particular card is thee most expensive ever when this fight is the most competitive on the entire thing and that's not saying much.

Anyway on point, if Collazo beats Khan, (I think he should), it doesn't say much. He'd have basically just rid us of 2 of the welterweights and jr's biggest hypejobs. But I'd feel glad for him regardless.

For me this fight is easily the pick of the card.

It is good to hear that Collazo is coming to fight.

I think he may start slowly (as he did against Hatton) but if he survives the first 3-4 rounds he could make it very difficult for Khan.

I don't think Khan will carry the extra weight well, he often fades after the first half way point of his fights, allowing his opponent's back into the fight.

With Khan it is all about 2 things, hand speed and work rate.

When the work rate drops he becomes very vulnerable.

Collazo is no KO specialist, but he is a tough fighter @ 147 who knows how to survive pressure. I'd favor him for the decision.

Either way, unless Khan score a sensational KO (possible) or completely dominates Collazo for 12 rounds (he won't) huge doubts remain about his true class.

I wonder who Golden Boy would match Collazo up with if he upsets Khan. Maybe they'll get scared to put him in with anyone else.

It's certainly the only fight I'm genuinely intrigued by. I expect Khan to win comfortably, but who knows anymore?
