I hope Cotto will also be allowed to bring a bat in the ring.

Who was the last fighter to land a significant number of left hooks on Martinez? Cotto's right hand is far less of a threat than his left hook.

Cotto was a midget at 154, I just don't see how he can last 12 rounds against Sergio.

Macklin and Barker took rounds off a Sergio not coming off injuries. He's not invincible and he's never faced a fighter as skilled as the one he faces June 7th.

He can't. This is likely the end for him.

No way can Cotto keep his already troubled stamina at a good level if he moves around like that. His punches had nothing on them and tbh, if Sergio stood toe to toe-Cotto would get sparked quicker.

It will be interesting to see what Cotto will weigh in at-because this will effect his stamina down the stretch-provided it makes it past the midway point....I think Cotto gets stopped within 5.

In fact, when was Cotto's last great win? Because even against Judah he was getting rocked early. Against southpaws like Corley and Judah he was rocked bad-though his power got him by at those divisions....in MW, I wouldn't even consider him beating Martinez....hell, southpaw Austin Trout had his way with him!

Exactly. People act like Cotto is this power punching master boxer at middleweight, but he's not. He's a guy who's always had a porous defense and stamina problems. He had very good power at 140, good power at 147, and ok power at 154. He was getting dropped by the likes of Pacquiao and hurt by guys like Mayweather and Trout. Now, he's supposed to move up to 160 and defeat a guy who hits harder than all of them, has terrific stamina, and has the exact style to give Cotto nightmares?

                      To answer your question: yes.

Martinez is a shell of his prime. His style relies on athleticism and half-decent Euro boxers like Macklin, Barker & Murray gave him trouble. Arguably, Murray beat him.

I think Martinez has a knee which could shatter at any given moment. Hence he's not running. He has had serious hand & shoulder problems aswell. Perhaps Chavez Jr took something out of him in the 12th.

                      Cotto could do it.
