Boring dominant champ/exciting 'paper titlists' - which do you prefer for a division?

From an overall perspective, what would/do you prefer to see in some divisions of boxing today? Do you make do with having an overly dominant or boring champion but agree this is and will be the best thing for the sport in terms of having 'the champ', the absolute best to be identified in any given division?

Or, do you prefer more entertainment, but far less clarity as to the state of a division and who is the best, by having a division full of similarly skilled fighters or those that are capable of losing to each other, meaning belts would be passed along much more regularly.

    Post your opinions and discuss

    And vote in the poll
    11
Paper champs - more exciting division but uncertainty
    45.45%
    5
Dominant champ - absolute best but boring
    54.55%
    6

    The poll is expired.

Having a recognised champion doesn't have to be boring. Everyone wants uncertainty and competitiveness, but there should be a single title which marks someone out as the best too.

Paper titles open the door to the bullshit merchants.

I want to see the best fight the best. Period. Then these two things wouldn't even make it to a poll. This "cold war" **** has got to end. There needs to be a governing body in Boxing. I hate to say that but that's the truth. The UFC knows how to keep fans and gain new fans. But they're having some of the same issues that Boxing is having. Especially with judging, early stoppages and the biggest atrocity .. fighters with styles that halt the action. I watched Ben Henderson fight Josh Thomson, winner gets a title shot. Knowing both of these fighters, I expected a potential fight of the year candidate. But Ben Henderson made sure that didn't happen. With his lunging right hook to the body, then the bear hug clinch ... similar to Ward's "push jab", bear hug/billy goat charge. The refs need to step it up and put a stop top this nonsense. Fans are being ripped off for their hard earned money.
