Hearing from more and more #boxing insiders, that what HBO (over)paid for Ward-Rodriguez is now biting them in the ass...

Bottom line, other managers, promoters and fighters see what was paid to Ward-Rodriguez, and are asking for those numbers too #boxing

Yvon Michel told me earlier, Adonis Stevenson saw what Ward was getting and thought the HBO offer to him was not nearly good enough #boxing

Just think about it, Edwin Rodriguez not only got a million to be a B-side to Ward, he also got a guaranteed return bout on HBO #boxing
Wrote some long crap out and accidentally exited, so here's the gist.
HEre is a chart of boxing's highest rated fights of 2013:
I'm a little unsure how it's formatted. Evidently Ward Rodriguez peaked at 1.2 while AVG over a little over 1M... but other fights like Chavez Jr/Vera and GGG/Stevens are showing it's AVG when they peaked by about 100k more.
Ward was only surpassed in pay by 2 guys, Cotto and CHavez Jr, who's 1 and 2 on the list respectively while he's 12.
Cotto got 2M while Devlin got 250k
Chavez Jr got 2.5 M (before the fine) while Vera got 275k
GGG got 400k while stevens got 290k (whole card under 800k)
Ward got 1.9M (before E-Rod's penalty) while E-Rod got 1M (whole card cost 3.15M)
You can see why Stevenson was mad, that he beat Ward in ratings last year and got paid less. Hell, Golovkins 800k card was almost 1/4 of Ward's and produced better ratings.
I don't think Showtime can support all the fighters they have right now, but HBO may start losing one fight deals like they did with Stevenson. They don't seem to want to do business with anybody other than Goosen promotions in the States, out of all the bigger promotions (the big ones under TR and GBP).
If Kovalev's ratings, for example, start rising, Duva will damn sure start asking for more money and it'd be justifiable. I don't know how much he got as his purse, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't over a million. Hell, I heard Agnew got a 75k purse, Kovalev couldn't be too far away.
They saved money on buying Fonfara/Stevenson, so they should use that money for Kovalev/Pascal in Canada to make up for the temp loss
